Ant Attack

Ang mga langgam! Talaga nga naman! Ansisipag!

Sa tuwi-tuwina na lang may nakikita akong pila ng mga langgam. May mini ants, may bulky ants.

Napagwawagian nilang gawin yun! I'm caught off guard!!! Hahaha!

The Day The Earth Stool Still (2008)

Rants and Raves (SPOILER Alert)

1. Who the hell shoot the alien form of Klaatu? I hate that scene. There might already be some casualties from the alien's landing but there had been no immediate threat that moment, and no orders to shoot. Imagine what dealings could have transpired if nobody shoot Klaatu beforehand. As for the it-must-be-an-accident thing, why with all the training and striking air of command of the troops, they couldn't hold their fingers?

2. I really hate the character of the child Jacob. He has a very unstable attitude. His choice of words is impertinent. First he's a disobedient, disrespectful stepson, then he shifted stance in a snap. So much to emphasize that people can change. And please, don't give me that he's-only-a-child reply. I even cursed when he intentionally called the police. [sorry]

3. Oh... if Helen obeyed and drugged Klaatu from the start, there won't be a long winded extraction of Klaatu's intention and mission on earth. Though I still think that's a cruel thing to do and I doubt aliens of such great power can really be deceived or affected with a drug. Helen's disobedience makes me think how many else are capable of deceiving their superiors with such a crucial would-be mistake.

4. Why would Klaatu want to talk to the leaders? Maybe to persuade them to change attitude and lifestyle while he give them a display of his powers for a more convincing act? Or maybe to ready themselves for the destruction of homo sapiens?

5. Where does the steel cage the size of the alien robot comes from? What is it's original use? And why does the government own a tube-like chamber that can hold something giant like the alien robot? It's like they foresee that something so big and dangerous will come to earth, or to human inventions or discoveries. What is that chamber really for? They couldn't have built it in an instant just to have a testing lab for the alien robot, could they?

6. Klaatu shouldn't have changed his mind in saving the earth from humans. Especially with that child's character and the aggressive attempts of every human in power to act offensively before thinking thoroughly.

7. The story is good but it's elements have failed to give justice to the story. Humans may not really be as bad as Klaatu thinks, but the idea of saving earth from human, though not delightful, is genuinely a clever story.

"It acted to protect me. It activates in the presence of violence." - Klaatu

"If the earth dies, you die. If you die, the earth survives." - Klaatu
